What are the benefits of Hiring a Health Coach?Quite simply, the role of a Health Coach is to make you achieve your health and fitness goals faster than you would by yourself. How is this achieved? 1. By using their knowledge to design more effective training / activity programmes 2. By providing a source of accountablity to help keep you on track with your health and fitness journey. You are more likely to stick to your programme if you have to reconcile your efforts with somebody else each week! 3. By providing the motivation to stick to your programme, even when the going gets tough. Life and circumstances can get in the road, and you can lose sight of your progress and forget why you started on the journey in the first place. The coach is there to help you focus and navigate past these roadblocks and keep your on your journey. (And occasionally to be a shoulder to cry on.) 4. By providing mindset training. This goes hand-in-hand with point 3. Often the way to address the challenges of a health and fitness journey is to learn to change your mindset, and this enables you to reframe negative aspects and handle them more easily. Regular reading of self-development books can be very helpful here, along with strategies such as mindfulness and meditation.

Can I lose fat AND put on muscle at the same time? This sounds lke the Holy Grail of fitness, but thankfully the answer is YES! By undertaking a muscle hypertrophy training programme and going into a mild calorie deficit of less than 500 calories per day, you can put on muscle and lose fat! Remember, muscle is heavy so your weight may appear to go UP as the inches come off!

What is the GP Health Coaching Philosophy? The GP Health Coaching philosophy starts with the idea that achieving your health and fitness goals is a partnership between me as the Coach and you as the Client in a 50:50 split. Coach and Client have an equal input and responsibility in getting you to achieve your health and fitness goals. Your fitness journey may require you to make changes in your lifestyle: for some people, they will want to jump right in, other people will need to make the changes in a step-by-step manner. Whatever your situation, the programme and support will work with the approach you need. GP Health Coaching is not looking to make short-term changes. Moving to a healthier, fitter you should encompass lifestyle changes that become enduring habits, not just a short-term phase. The short-term approach yields short-term results, but your health is a life-long activity. Making lifestyle changes that are enduring will help to keep you off the get healthy / relapse roundabout. Embarking on a fitness journey is also a journey of personal growth, an opportunity to become a better version of you. Encouraging and incorporating personal growth oportunities is part of the GP Health Coaching philosophy.
